Erect, use and dismantle access equipment for construction work

DESCRIPTION

Working at height on a construction site without properly erected access equipment is one of the most dangerous decisions a contractor can make. Scaffolding, trestles and ladders are the foundation of safe construction work at height — providing stable working platforms, protecting workers from falls and shielding those below from falling objects.

Falls from height remain the single biggest cause of accidental death and serious injury in the South African construction industry. The good news is that most of these incidents are entirely preventable. Scaffolding that is correctly erected, inspected and maintained significantly reduces the risk of falls — and this CETA-accredited course ensures your team knows exactly how to do it right.

Successful candidates credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • Erect and dismantle a system scaffold with ladder access.
  • Erect and dismantle a trestle scaffold.
  • Erect and dismantle an extension ladder.
  • Make use of a step ladder.
